MORE???

Despite recently being bummed out and “bemoaning” about seeing a downturn in turnover for the first few meetings of the new racing season, and wondering whether the commingling of bets and the torrential downpour of simulcasts might be “cannibalising” betting, the CEO of the Hong Kong Jockey Club resurfaced by giving two fingers to any Less Is More business strategy, and instead adding an EXTRA 6up bet.

Though some of us knew nothing about the addition of this bet nor the comings and goings and misfires and strange own goal marketing “duopolys” of the HKJC, yeah, an extra 6up was introduced at Shatin yesterday.

This started from the first race to the sixth and with the SECOND 6up starting from the sixth race to the last race on the card- the eleventh.

This has now hitched a ride to the various other exotic bets including Double Trios, a Triple Trio, a Jockey and Trainer competition and the usual win/place, quinella, tierce, doubles and quartet bets.

One shudders to think what’s coming up next…

Frankly, with Hong Kong only being a base these days, and where nightlife ends at 10pm because most kitchens close by 9.30pm, if looking at a bigly bet, we would go all in on something like the Cindy Alderson trained Jigsaw with Logan Bates up just as we did last Saturday and then called it a day.

When money’s too tight to mention and some are trying to tempt others into the crypto world, and AI, it might be best to follow the possible comeback of McDonald’s on the stock market and chill out in Sri Lanka with some coconuts.

What about Ka Ying Rising at the Everest? What about Ka Ying Rising at the Everest?

The big boys have taken the $1.35 on offer while others are backing two other horses to run into a place at $2.20 or more.

It’s going to be a good and interesting race to watch with some involved in the betting side of things communicating with the weather gods

We’ll be happy enough following the Ciaron Maher stable, the miracle that was long odds winner Land Legend and riders in Australia at the top of their game in Ethan Brown, Rachel King and Jamie Mott.

The business of Horse racing and how it’s being marketed in Hong Kong is in dire need of a serious overhaul or be faced with a tackiness that forces it to fade to black.

Hong Kong is going through an economic slump like most of the world.

It’s the time for balance and not force feeding people what they cannot afford but want to be seen as groovy movers and shakers being served by Michelin star chefs.

Dream on.

What Hong Kong needs is more FUN and HAPPINESS.

No one can afford to lose what they don’t have and then be forced to rely on the “kindness” of strangers while travelling on a streetcar named Desire.
