THE NEED TO BE INSPIRED IN A DUMBED DOWN WORLD.

When the favourite in a five horse race at Northam in Western Australia yesterday named Brazen Butcher and ridden by the “Wizard”- leading jockey William Pike- finished out of the money, and the winner romped in at around 70-1, well, it was pretty obvious that the weather gods had decided to create a Bonkers Day just for the hell of it.

After a rather tame lame start to a Thursday of less than average winter solstice thoroughbred racing in Australia, mischief was afoot, dear friends.

Some who follow horse racing perhaps saw ominous signs that things would get dark when he who’s known as “The G-Man” struggled on one of those online racing channels to get anything much other than almost Neanderthal grunts outta Western Australia’s leading breeder and owner Bob Peters.

The G-Man was left shooting blanks as questions were answered with a paucity of words by The Bobcat who seemed deadly bored with pretty much everything thrown in his direction.
Though at Wyong favourites in the first three races saluted, and racing at Warrnambool pretty much kept to some semblance of heavy track form, I kept thinking about the doomsday tones of Bobcat Peters and what might have happened if Hunter S Thompson had interviewed him. Or if the good doctor and architect of gonzo journalism interviewed ANYONE in the hierarchy of the racing industry?

In a parallel universe, the Trumpling Swamp Thing was announcing how he thought his Tweedle Dum friend and head of FIFA- Giovanni Infantino- would make a great Secretary General of the United Nations.

After what these two managed to wreak on the Finals of the World Cup starting with the presentation of the FIFA peace prize to the Trumpling, why were we surprised with anything that followed?

The World Cup 2026 ended being the beautiful game of football last week because it was turned into a heavily politicised circus.
This included certain teams and players and officials either being shut out of entering the country or forced to play according to new rules made up on the spot.

There was then the Trumpling involved in overturning a Red card decision and the addition of a 27 minute American Super Bowl type half time show where The Bieb sang about Jesus and Lady Madonna tried to reverse the aging process.

The 80 year old Trumpling decided to hang around after the prize giving ceremony because he wanted the show to go on and on and on with him being seen as the winner and thinking he was Spanish. And when the Trumpling starts talking about TikTok and Instagram, it’s time to leave whatever this social media world has become.

What horse racing and everything else going on in the world these days doesn’t or refuses to understand is that they have become part of tedious variations of “entertainment” fare that has been around for almost fifty years.
Whoever is in the audience either don’t care or have been dumbed down to THINK they belong despite having zero involvement nor investment in what is being presented.
They are, for the most part, being force fed what is unappetising to them, and prisoners here and there of their own devices while asking themselves, Where is the new juicy fruit with extra stuffings?
The question is, who are they asking and do themselves know what they really really really want?
Me, I look at two people- Ricky Gervais and Jessie Buckley- for inspiration and juicy fruits.

Both seem to be watching the world go by and don’t like what they see and don’t believe in where things are headed and which is probably over the precipice unless someone or something happens that ends this Age of Stupidity.

Ricky Gervais has made his feelings known about Hollywood and celebritydom. He is all about saving the animals and making humans understand that this planet belongs to them probably more than it does to us.
The amazing and multi talented Ms Buckley inspires us in everything she does to be better humans busy doing by almost daring us to be inspired and be inspiring.
Well, that’s how she makes me feel…
Being inspired is easier said than done, but it can be done. It’s very much needed if this bruised and battered world that’s been Trumpled and reduced to Barney Rubble is going to make a comeback.

Personally speaking, and knowing that timing is everything, being able to inspire and create a brave new world full of inspiration is what’s needed through all the technological advances available to us today.
What’s not needed is recycling things that have come before and kidding ourselves that this is new when we know that boring crud like finally unmasking The Masked Singer and no one still knowing who the hell it is, is all extremely boring and pointless.

Maybe this is why Bob Peters became Bobcat Peters? He was very probably bloody bored answering the same old questions and maybe bored with himself?
Same goes for those who are going to inherit what we sow?
And right now, we’re usually wasting our time sewing mittens for kittens up a tree, because we have no idea how to make the most out of our lives and cannot seem to dig ourselves out of the dumbness we have created for ourselves.
