Press Pause

Just because

It’s all moving too fast

When it should be slow

We still go past Go

And Old Kent Road

Well, it’s no longer there

Running out of time

And running outta rhymes

Wish I could see you again

And get lost in your smile

That’s when I was happy

and happiest

He was always looking for love and never able to find it, because he already knew how it felt and maybe when he lost his way, he lost how to find new love, too.

We don’t talk about it at all, but I know that when he goes underwater and doesn’t come up for air that he’s trying to get himself lost in the mist while also trying to find himself inside his words. His words take him anywhere he wishes to go and meet those only he knows and hears songs that only he can.

I have been with him for as long as he’s been here and walked in shallow waters with him past slugs and snails and trying to pace himself before he got to calmer waters.

This is where there was an octopus’s garden, flying fish of many colours and new worlds in different places in time or out of time or where time had stood still and where he could listen to the silence and inhale and exhale slowly.

He could deal with some artificial intelligence, but it didn’t take long for him to get bored with it and he had to keep moving to stop from suffering from rigor mortis and getting stunted.

Because being stunted meant being small minded and going in reverse, this was only okay if he was reminded of what Bob Dylan had to say and how if you’re not busy doing, you’re busy dying.
