BEING MUZI COOL
Cool is a frame of mind and not something that can be manufactured and which is why someone like Jean Claude Van Damme, Jackie Chan or Steven Segal were never ever cool, but Steve McQueen, Bruce Lee and James Coburn were.
It’s why those who wear shades indoors always bang into glass doors and are seen as doofuses, but, not so those who keep it real and why we’re seeing the end of “influencers” who, like KOLs, are no longer niche and have become part of what could be termed “corporate cool”.
Jimmy Fallon, for instance, is way too contrived to be anything of any substance. The Daily Show’s Desi Lydic is extremely cool, because, she just is as is Julia Louis Dreyfus, Conan O’Brien, Cillian Murphy and David Letterman is beyond cool.
NOW UNITED
On the surface, the group might be something like an SClub Redux, but don’t be put off by the cheesy Gangham and Aaron Kwok-type dance moves and girlie squealing and carrying on.
Their time is NOW and Now United is FAR more cool and hip and young and normal than those hipsters trying so very hard to be seen as being as hip and cooler than Vanilla Ice in a freezer.
POL SAMBOL
Originates in Sri Lanka and might on the surface be grated coconut with chopped onions and chilli, but here’s a sambol that can be enjoyed with everything from string hoppers to even being turned into a cool new type of a bloody hot stringwich.
